About Kintyre

Kintyre McNaught grew up in the Rogue Valley. She began drawing classes at the age of 10. She took lessons from an artist named John Bodenstab, who lived in the same senior living home as her grandparents. Not long after she began her lessons with John he suggested to her mom that she take classes from a professional artist. So at the age of 11 she began classes at Rogue Classical Atelier with Charity Hubbard. She has been homeschooled by her mom with her three sisters her whole life which allowed her to join Charity's Atelier college program at the age of 12. Her older sister Mallaig also joined the college program shortly after Kintyre joined and they have been taking classes together ever since.

Kintyre has been classically trained from a young age and began oil painting at 13 while also learning life drawing and pastels. She has also taken multiple workshops from other professional artists, including Frank Ordaz, Linda Glover Gooch, and Anna-Rose Bain.

Growing up in Medford Oregon she has always loved the beautiful landscape that surrounds her. She also has a love for traveling. Along with her art teacher, sister and classmates, Kintyre traveled around Europe for a month in 2024, painting and drawing famous architecture and studying famous art. She mainly works in oil paint and charcoal but also enjoys graphite, pastel and watercolor. She loves painting portraits because she can never get tired of painting a portrait when every person is so unique. Painting people from life and plein air landscapes are some of her favorite subject matter as well. In 2024, Kintyre won her first Oil Painters of America award with a painting of her older sister Baelian, getting second place in the Oil Painters of America highschool division.

With her teacher and parents' constant support and encouragement she never doubted what she wanted to do with her life she loves it so much she never pictured herself doing anything else.
